With the strategic aim to develop Japan as a leading nation in MICE tourism, the Japanese Government enacted the “Integrated Resort Development Act” in July 2018. Initially 3 licenses to build and operate such resorts were to be granted with the first resorts planned to be opened between 2024 - 2026.
